We've all heard the saying, "You can't have your cake and eat it too".
As students, for example, many of us had the time to travel or pursue outside interests but lacked the financial means to do so. As professionals, we often find that time is the biggest constraint to chasing our personal goals.
At Marakon, we believe in creating work/life balance – not trade-offs. So we've instituted two extended leave programs that allow employees to 'have it all.'
'10&2' and '11&1' scheme
After one year at the firm, all employees are eligible to apply for up to two months of unpaid leave each year. There are no limitations on what the time can be used for; you can go on voyages of self-discovery, volunteer in the community or simply rest and recharge batteries.
After 3 years with the firm, employees can apply to take a longer sabbatical to engage in activities that are aligned with furthering their career at Marakon.
Recent examples of how people have spent their time away from Marakon include: trekking in remote areas of Malaysia, traveling along the Chinese silk route, studying interior design, working on a Get Out the Vote effort on the Sisseton American Indian Reservation, and even competing in the world sailing championships.
